Mod Podge 101 Class

Several people have been asking me about Mod Podge. Is it easy to use? What can you do with it? How's it work? So, I thought maybe I could answer those questions and show you just how easy it is.

The class will be held on September 12 from 6:30pm until 8:30 pm.

We will be making a 6" x 6" canvas featuring a monogram, along with a picture coaster. All you need to bring is a picture that will fit a 4" x 4" tile. I will supply everything else. I need to know is dark gray or tan. (For the background). You will be choosing the paper for your monogram.

The cost will be $10. You will take home a canvas and a coaster, along with some Christmas ideas.

Please RSVP by September 10.

Fighting for Izzy!

Be sure to check out this auction (www.fightingforizzyauction.wordpress.com) benefiting the Mattocks family.

Izzy is a beautiful 4 year old girl that is currently battling stage 4 Neuroblastoma.  Her daddy works with my brother in Indianapolis.  Izzy is receiving care at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, which most of you know is who has helped us so much with Ben.

I am proud to offer items from Emmy Cate Designs.

More birdies...

I just love this birds!  This picture was made for my friend Lisa's guest bedroom.  Instead of using book pages, I used vintage sheet music that dates back to the 1930's.  LOVE IT!

Jeremiah 29:11

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord.  "Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.  Plans to give you a hope and a future."

This verse has always been very special in my family, especially for my dad.  With his birthday in April, I wasn't exactly sure what to get him.  So, my mom and I conspired together and this is what we came up with.

It's very simple, but straight to the point.  It looks great in him office.  My little sister has now decided she needs one that is similar.  I'll post that when I get it finished.

Gotta Love Owls!

I was recently asked to design a wall hanging for a little girls room that featured owls and wasn't too girly.  This is what I came up with.

I love it!  My friend that ordered it had given me a picture of a mural that her cousin was planning on using.  I went off those colors and this is what I ended up with.

It's a bird!

My mom's birthday was yesterday and I always struggle with what to get her. So, a few months ago she pinned this picture( http://misswhit-tany.blogspot.com/2010/05/what-to-do-with-blank-canvas.html) that she liked while she was on Pinterest. Bingo!!! I found the PERFECT gift for her!

After I got up enough nerve to destroy an old book I had, this project turned into a lot of fun. I used Mod Podge and glued all the torn book pages to a 16 x 20 canvas that I picked up at Wal-Mart. After that dried overnight, I got out my new Cricut Expressions (thanks babe!) and cut out 5 of these super cute birds. I used Mod Podge again (maybe my new best friend) and glued down a ribbon for a branch, the birds and chipboard letters that I had colored with a marker.

This is what I ended up with....

I LOVE IT!!!!

I decided to go one step further and make some little birds that I copied from here (http://charcoalandcrayons.blogspot.com/2011/04/scrappy-sparrows.html). I followed the directions and this is what I came up with.

Too cute!
